GUARD ACCUSSED OF STEALING BOATS by; Rick McCann www.privateofficer.com
LEE'S SUMMIT, Mo. -- A security guard and three others were taken into custody in connection with thefts at a Longview Lake boathouse, deputies said.
Jackson County Sheriff's Deputy Ronda Montgomery said surveillance video at the marina captured three men and a woman rifling through boats, stealing fishing poles, tackle, clothing and extension cords. Montgomery said one of the people looked like the overnight security guard at the boathouse, and he was still wearing the uniform.
"We're not quite sure why he did what he did, but, you know, we do have reason to believe that they knew the cameras were there. What they were thinking when they were doing it, I'm not sure," Montgomery said. Deputies said they found stolen items at the homes of the accused.
Montgomery said boat owners should check their boats and notify the sheriff's office if anything is missing.
