FARGO ND---A man has pleaded guilty to charges in a three-state shoplifting ring that prosecutors say led to Internet sales of more than $400,000 in stolen merchandise.David Soldier, 36, of rural Moorhead, Minn., pleaded guilty Monday to federal charges of conspiracy and possession of stolen goods. Three money-laundering counts are to be dismissed under a plea agreement.Judge Ralph Erickson set a sentencing hearing for Sept. 25. Soldier's attorney said he will argue that Soldier's role was less than what prosecutors contend.Authorities said Soldier and Michelle Kartes, also of Moorhead, headed a network of thieves that targeted retail stores in North Dakota, Minnesota and South Dakota. Stolen merchandise was sold on eBay, said Jennifer Puhl, an assistant U.S. attorney.Kartes pleaded guilty in May to conspiracy and possession of stolen property.Prosecutors are seeking to force Kartes and Soldier to forfeit a rural Moorhead home valued at more than $480,000. SAGINAW MI;------Saginaw County retailers, Saginaw Township police and the Saginaw County Sheriff's Department teamed up to bust 17 shoplifters in an organized blitz Thursday and Friday.
Along with arresting 13 adults and four teens, police retrieved $1,400 in shoplifted merchandise, a small amount of marijuana and a 1988 Oldsmobile 98 stolen June 27 in Saginaw.
"It exceeded our expectations," said Saginaw Township Police Crime Prevention Officer Chris Fredenburg

The suspect with the Olds also is a suspect in the theft of a 2007 Buick Lucerne involved in a police chase Friday from Carrollton Township to Saginaw Township and the city, police said.
Police staked out 15 retailers in Saginaw and Kochville townships, giving the retailers police radios and setting up a private channel just for the sting, which allowed quick response time, Fredenburg said.
"These companies were really cool with the blitz," he said. "They would give us a heads-up when they were working on a shoplifter."
The effort allowed authorities to crack down on crime that often gets little attention, Fredenburg said.
"Retail fraud, in the spectrum of police calls, falls to the bottom when it's real busy," he said. "Our point was to take every single shoplifter to jail, even if it was only $20."
The blitz did have one bizarre side effect: When an officer called out to a suspect inside TJ Maxx, 3421 Tittabawassee in Saginaw Township, to get down on the ground, workers there mistook the commotion for a robbery and hid in a back room, calling 911.
The department plans to run another shoplifting blitz, but hasn't set a date, Fredenburg said.

When police arrived, it was discovered that Henderson and her unidentified accomplice had hit up the mall's CVS Pharmacy, Claire's Accessories and Rave stores, Thompson said.
