June 11, 2007 www.privateofficer.com Four teenage boys were arrested in Palms Springs on Sunday for allegedly beating a 66-year-old Bowers security guard unconscious and robbing him, authorities said.The teenage boys -- aged 17 to 18 -- allegedly confronted the victim -- a former Marine -- early Saturday as he patrolled a construction site near the intersection of Rosa Parks Street and El Dorado Boulevard -- near a Valero gas station, Palm Springs police Lt. John Booth said.Booth said the teenagers allegedly struck the security guard repeatedly with blunt objects and dragged him from his car until he was unconscious. The suspects then robbed the victim and left the scene in an older model Ford Explorer.Officers found the victim unconscious and badly injured. He was transported to Desert Regional Medical Center in critical condition and put in the hospital's Intensive Care Unit, Booth said.Detectives located the suspects' vehicle, and the suspects were arrested soon after, Booth said.All four teenage suspects were charged with robbery and attempted murder, he said.The Palm Springs police will hold a press conference on Monday at the station. Police Chief Gary Jeandron will give an update on the victim's condition as well as other developments.
