KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- Knoxville Police said officers have killed a man suspected of firing shots into a restaurant over the weekend, killing a customer and wounding an employee.
Police located 25-year-old David Michael Rudd about 10:30 p.m. Sunday behind a restaurant in the western part of the city.
Police spokesman Darrell DeBusk said Rudd refused orders to drop two weapons he carried and officers shot him several times.
DeBusk said police have not positively identified Rudd as the man who argued with a Hooters restaurant cashier over his bill early Saturday, then left the restaurant and fired shots into it.
The gunfire killed Stacey Sherman of Applegate, Mich., and wounded an assistant manager at the store.
