MALL GUARD POISONED by:Rick McCann www.privateofficer.com

MUSKOGEE OKLA.

Two Arrowhead Mall employees face felony charges for allegedly spiking an Arrowhead Mall security guard’s iced tea with xylene on July 4.
Michael Waylon Winlock, 27, of Taft, and Nicholas Patrick Hobbs, 19, of Muskogee were charged Tuesday with “Mingling harmful substance with drink,” said Muskogee County District Attorney Larry Moore.
It is the first time such charges have been filed in Muskogee County, he said.
Mall security guard Frank Carvajal poured a drink from the iced tea pitcher left in the front of the security office for employees, said Muskogee Police Investigator Greg Martin.
The defendants allegedly put xylene in the pitcher before Carvajal drank some of the tea and got sick, Martin said.
Part of the evidence in the case is a videotape of the incident and “somewhat of a confession from the employees (charged),” Martin said.
Jail records reflect Winlock and Hobbs posted $10,000 bonds each to be released from the Muskogee County/City Detention Facility. Winlock was released Friday and Hobbs on Sunday.
No one answered a message left on Carvajal’s home phone, and he was not at work Wednesday. His supervisor said he could not comment as to Carvajal’s health condition.

About xylene
Xylene is used as a solvent, a cleaning agent and a thinner for paint. It is a colorless, sweet-smelling liquid that catches on fire easily.
High levels of exposure for short or long periods can cause headaches, lack of muscle coordination, dizziness, confusion and changes in one’s sense of balance. Exposure of people to high levels of xylene for short periods can also cause irritation of the skin, eyes, nose and throat, difficulty in breathing, problems with the lungs, delayed reaction time, memory difficulties, stomach discomfort and possibly changes in the liver and kidneys. It can cause unconsciousness and even death at very high levels.
