Loud Music Complaint Leads To Arrest of Murder Suspect

DeLAND, Fla. -Dec. 27, 2007 - A man wanted on suspicion of murder by the Volusia County Sheriff's Office was captured early Thursday morning when DeLand police officers responded to complaints of loud music.
Jontrell Jackson, 23, who was wanted on a warrant charging him with second-degree murder in the November shooting death of Eric Lyles, was arrested at about 1:45 a.m. at an apartment complex located at 1029 Country Club Park Drive.
DeLand police officers responded to the apartment after receiving complaints of loud music. As officers questioned people at the apartment, they discovered that Jackson had the open warrant and immediately arrested him.

Jackson was booked into the Volusia County Branch Jail in Daytona Beach without incident.
Lyles was found suffering from a gunshot wound to the head on the sidewalk along South Clara Avenue near DeLand in the early morning hours of Nov. 6. He was airlifted to Halifax Health Medical Center in Daytona Beach, where he died about 15 hours later.
An investigation led authorities to Jackson, who was seen by witnesses running from the scene of the shooting, according to police.
Investigators said they believe that the shooting was motivated by revenge and that Lyles may have robbed Jackson in the past.
In addition to the murder warrant, Jackson also had warrants for failure to appear in cases involving not having a valid driver's license, driving with a suspended license and failure to appear in a possession of marijuana under 20 grams.
