COLUMBIA, S.C. Dec. 23, 2007 -- A South Carolina inmate was sentenced to four and a half additional years in prison for mailing a threatening letter to his ex-girlfriend.
U.S. Attorney Reginald Lloyd says 36-year-old Anthony Miller mailed a threatening letter that included a fake obituary detailing her murder by fire and mutilation.
He was sentenced yesterday to 55 months in jail and three years probation. Miller will enter federal custody after completing his time in state prison. He is serving a three-year sentence there for stalking.
U.S. attorney's spokesman Kevin McDonald says Miller mailed his ex-girlfriend threatening letters from jail. The investigation started in October 2006 after she reported them.
Miller's criminal record dates to 1988 and includes convictions on criminal domestic violence, criminal sexual conduct and unlawful use of a telephone.
